A DIFFERENT
PLACE TO BEGIN.

You may already know a great deal about bulimia and recovery. Yet knowing more has not necessarily brought you closer to freedom.

My work begins with a question that can change what becomes visible: What if the commonly accepted account of bulimia begins too late to explain what you have been experiencing — or why bingeing and purging have been so difficult to stop?

PERSONAL APPROACH.

RECOVERY: WHY IT FEELS SO HARD — AND HOW FREEDOM BEGINS

Recovery is often framed as a long, difficult struggle — one that may never quite end. But what if that is not simply a description of recovery: What if it is shaping what you can see — and what you believe is possible?

Why does that matter?

Because the future you believe you are heading towards changes what feels possible — and worth doing — today.

CONCIERGE

WHEN FREEDOM FEELS URGENT

Sometimes freedom acquires a particular urgency. You may be approaching an important milestone or transition — or the cost of continuing as you are may have become too great to ignore.

Concierge brings me to your location for an individually designed period of concentrated, in-person work. Over an agreed number of days, focused time together sits alongside ordinary life, allowing nuances, connections and spontaneous moments that might otherwise remain hidden to emerge. We can recognise and respond to them as they happen.

Concierge can be a concentrated piece of work, in its own right, or an immersive element within The Crossing. Its form and focus are shaped with you around your circumstances and what the moment requires.

I WORK WITH THE WOMAN,
NOT A LABEL.

Throughout this website, I use the word bulimia for ease of reading. My work is with adult women experiencing bingeing and/or purging, whether or not these are accompanied by restriction or other attempts to compensate for eating.

These experiences may have been classified as Bulimia Nervosa, Binge-Eating Disorder, Anorexia Nervosa binge-eating/purging type, an OSFED presentation — or may never have received a diagnostic label at all.

A diagnosis does not determine whether your experience belongs here. If you are unsure, we can talk privately before deciding whether working together is appropriate.

You may have encountered many explanations for bingeing and purging, each carrying professional authority, yet not always agreeing with the others. From inside your experience, that uncertainty may not look like uncertainty in the explanations — it may leave you wondering which of the proposed causes lies behind what has been or is happening to you.

MY WORK BEGINS SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Everything has an underlying structure. Bulimia is no different.

Much of that structure is hidden from view while you are living inside it, which is why what happens can feel random, contradictory or confusing. But there is a sequence and a logic to what is happening.

And your structure is likely to be different from someone else's, which is one reason why generic information and one-size-fits-all approaches often fail to create lasting change.

When your structure becomes visible, you can begin to see how the pieces connect, what has been keeping the struggle in place — and what needs to change for you to be free. That is where we begin.

I don't begin with a diagnosis and then look for what is wrong with you.

HOW JULIE WORKS.
THE THREE PRINCIPLES.

True transformation follows a process. Ancient in origin. Proven in practice.

THE DISSOLVING

Before anything can be transformed, it must first be understood. Not managed, not suppressed, not wished away — but looked at honestly and completely. The solution has always been inside the problem. This is where we begin.

THE CLARIFYING

What was once chaotic and confusing begins to make sense. Old patterns, old beliefs, and old contexts are examined in the light of new information. Clarity arrives — and with it, the first real experience of freedom becoming possible.

THE BECOMING

Clarity becomes transformation. A new context, a new relationship with yourself, a new experience of living. Not recovery as management — but life, fully and finally restored. This is the alchemy.

A CLEAR FRAMEWORK.

A COLLABORATIVE PROCESS.

There is a path from where you are now to freedom, but how you cross cannot be prescribed in advance.

My framework draws together lived experience, physiology, overlooked chapters in eating-disorder history, the construction of bulimia's diagnosis and classification, and the cultural contexts in which women come to understand their bodies, bulimia and recovery.

I have developed and refined this body of work through more than twelve years of guiding women worldwide to freedom from bulimia.

I bring that body of work into conversation with your experience and what you truly want. Neither replaces the other. Together, they allow us to understand your particular structure and discover what is needed next. That conversation continues throughout our work, shaping the path as it unfolds.

PAUSE

Discovering Your Current Structure

We begin with a pause — not a delay in the work, but the vital beginning of it.

Pause gives us the space to discover your current structure: how the different pieces fit together and what keeps the struggle in place. As that structure becomes clearer, so does your true starting point — and from there, what is needed next can begin to emerge.

REORIENT

Reorienting Towards Freedom

Once your current structure can be seen more clearly, it can be understood differently. What had looked like a problem within you can begin to make sense as part of the structure you have discovered.

Together, we reorient around what is now visible and what freedom will require of you. Freedom itself becomes clearer — not merely the absence of bingeing and purging, but a vivid, believable way of living that gives our work direction and gives your agency and motivation somewhere to go.

CROSS

Building a Structure for Freedom

Crossing is where understanding becomes lived.

I support you as what you are discovering and understanding begins to take form in everyday life — through new choices, responses and ways of living that increasingly support your freedom. Over time, what once required so much attention, negotiation and effort no longer needs to organise your life. Your attention and energy return to you for the life you want to live — and to love.

A FEW THINGS YOU
MAY BE WONDERING.

Therapy takes many forms. The difference lies in the particular focus and framework of my work. The Crossing is a private coaching and mentoring collaboration focused specifically on bulimia, binge–purge experiences and freedom. I do not diagnose or provide therapy or medical treatment. I bring my lived experience, a developed way of understanding what may keep the struggle in place, and more than twelve years guiding women worldwide. Together, we explore how that understanding relates to your life and what needs to change for freedom to become possible.

Some women undertake The Crossing alongside therapy, medical care or other specialist support. Where these are needed, The Crossing complements rather than replaces them.

The Crossing begins with a four-month container — enough space for the work to unfold fully. At the end of four months, we review together where you are and what, if anything, is needed next. Some women choose to continue; others are ready to move forward on their own.

Concierge is shaped individually. It can be a concentrated piece of work in its own right or an immersive element within The Crossing. Its duration and form are agreed with you privately.

No. Julie works with women at all stages — from those actively struggling to those who feel "mostly okay" but want true freedom, not management. The common thread is the desire for a life that is genuinely free.

Julie works with clients worldwide via video call. In-person work is available through Concierge. Distance has never been a barrier — many of her most meaningful engagements have been entirely online.

Investment is discussed privately once Julie understands your situation and what the work would involve. There are no fixed price lists because the work is never fixed — it is shaped around you.

LET'S TALK
ABOUT YOU.

You've been managing this long enough. A free discovery call with Julie is a conversation — no pressure, no sales pitch. Just an honest look at where you are, where you want to be, and whether working together feels right.

The call takes 45 minutes. It might be the most important conversation you have this year.

"It's such a relief to speak about binging and purging with someone who has done it. Someone who knew what it's like to sneak around and make weird excuses and do weird stuff! I felt truly understood by you. Before I was always met with confusion and puzzlement — I even felt the eating disorder specialists didn't really understand. What an amazing, hopeful feeling to see you recovered. I loved the process you took me through on the call."
